Area Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Police report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then found multiple other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement report early analysis show the substance was likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no lead as to its origin; authorities are presently not informed of any physical harm in connection with the event," they added.
City officials stated they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the public for details.
An important official said the vandalism left him without words and had to be solved quickly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the death of nine people by a shooter aiming at people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
